- Alain Laboile

Born on May 1, 1968 in Bordeaux, France, Alain Laboile is a photographer and father of six. In 2004, as he needed to put together a portfolio of his work as a sculptor, he acquired a camera, and thus developped a taste for macrophotography, spurred by his passion for entomology. Later on, he pointed his lens towards his growing family which became his major subject : a life on the edge of the world, where intemporality and the universality of childhood meet.

His photographs present the viewer with images from a paralell existence. They document the turmulous world of children at their purest, engaging with their surroundings. Laboile lives with his wife and children in the remote 'Gironde' region of France. Here, Laboile has created a semblance of paradise. A grand estate surrounded by a luscious and wild garden. A place where his children can roam free. In stark contrast with the ironic pleasures of an urban existence these images seem to approach a pure joy of living.
Laboile develops his photographs with the help of Jock Sturges. His work has been exhibited in Paris,Bordeaux, Tokyo, New Delhi and Siem Reap in Cambodia. For further information please visit his website:
